                     ABOUT THE ART

All the artwork done by Trish Miller is ORIGINAL!   The artwork, or "designs" as she calls them, may be taken  from her own sketches, from her imagination, partly from photographs, or from "the real thing", but they are drawn with a chalk pencil onto the garment, the drawing infrequently redone using a felt tip pen, then hand-painted, stroke by stroke, using artists’ brushes and special, acrylic fabric paint.

When dry, the painting is heat-set providing a permanent, soft, comfortable and beautiful bit of wearable art that can be machine-washed and dried.  (Garments may be dry-cleaned, also, but it is not necessary, even with heavy jackets.)

The three photos below, taken in Trish’s studio, illustrate the process.

First, a drawing of the correct size is done (not shown).  Then, either drawing it 'free-hand' (subjects such as flowers, butterflies, mountains, etc.) or by using tracing paper, a chalk image is put onto the garment.

In the case of this eagle, the design cannot be seen well so the artist redrew it using a felt tip.

Then comes the time-consuming, challenging and fun part.  The artist hand-paints, stroke by stroke, the eye, beak and feathers, and any other part of the total design such as some of the elements of the American flag, which is often part of her eagle designs.
